Wake-Up Call
One of a series of images made for RuntimeDNA's "Apocalypse" theme sale and events, November 2012.

I knew when working on these images that I had to make something with a mech. When it came to building this scene, it gave me SO much grief -- I couldn't seem to get all of the elements that I wanted in the scene no matter how much I tried. Finally, as it all started to come together, I fiddled with the materials of TerraDome and Landmass to create a sandy wasteland. Still can't believe I finally got three mechs and mega-weapons in there! Can you seeeee them?

I have to echo my dA comment: Very impressive sense of scale! Very!

I think this was one of those images where I had to go WAY out of my comfort zone and use proper 35mm focal length, like real everyday cameras use. I'm slowly getting more used to that, but it was part of the challenge and really helped with establishing a sense of scale in such a pulled-back image.
