Story: Reflections from the Abyss
|
For the January 'Mirror Mirror' Challenge:
It began when she summoned me, for she was endowed with that power. A witch, for want of another name; a human, young, and lovely and in pain. I came at her bidding, at her impassioned invocation. At first, she summoned me for retribution, to avenge wrongs done to her kinfolk. For that was my edict, my purpose in the Dark Pantheon. But later, as our acquaintance became more intimate, she summoned me for the most trivial of matters: matters that did not mandate vengeance.
Yet still I came, as I always had. But now I came of my own free will, and often brought with me a trinket, a token that proved my good intent, and hinted at my growing affection. At last there came a time when I began to wish that I had not at first come to her cloaked in glamour, for I could do nothing to consummate the passion she had aroused in me without reverting to my true form.
I had little doubt she would flee screaming in terror should she see what she had truly summoned from the depths of the Abyss.
