Story: Over the Edge
The railing gave way and Andrew fell. Annlonna leaned over the edge chanting the words of a spell to catch him. He was too far for the spell to catch him. Perhaps with help... She thought. She turned it in her haste fell over the edge to. She screamed silently, calling for Pt’this with her mind.
"Annlonna?" His answer entered her head.
"The edge, hurry..." Annlonna cried in his mind.
Pt’this turned and saw the broken railing. As he ran to it he mentally told her he wouldn’t be able to change to a dragon because of his injured arm.
"Magic" was Annlonna answer. "Catch Andy."
"I can’t. I ..." Pt’this started.
"Pt’this you have to, please, hurry." His mind close to her showing he was concentrating on the spell suddenly and want to stop following. He had caught her instead.
"He’s too far." Pt’this said.
"Let’s go," Annlonna said.
"No," Pt’this told her.
"Do it!" She sent a scream sharp as a hot knife into his mind to break his concentration. She felt herself falling again. Knowing the price had finally been paid, she reached for her vial. As she touched the surface she could feel herself start to change. While it wasn’t painful, the sensation was quite unpleasant. Suddenly she stopped falling. The change was complete. Without hesitation she went into a dive.

Pt’this reeled in pain. How had she done that? He looked over the edge as she fell. He couldn’t believe his eyes. She was transforming into a dragon. How? The transformation was soon complete. She went into a dive to catch Andy.

Annlonna had seen Pt’this dive many times. She mimicked his posture and sped towards Andy. "Faster," she thought. "I won’t reach him in time."

"Straighten your tail," a voice said in her mind. Pt’this was trying to help Annlonna straightened her tail and her speed increased slightly but would it help?
Pt’this watch from the edge of the balcony. From the corner of his eye he could see a group of others stood nearby watching also, it's but he barely noticed them "I’m almost to him," Annlonna told him.
"Fly below him and let him land on you." Pt’this instructed.
"I can’t. He’s too close to the ground." It was and first time flying Pt’this remind himself. She would have trouble maneuvering. Think of when you helped fledglings learn to fly.
"Well, grab him with your talons."
"I’ll crush him," the reply came back. Pt’this shook his head. Typical fledgling.

Andy struggled to remain conscious while he felt. He wasn’t sure why. It would be a lot less painful when he hit the bottom. He realized the pain would not last a second but he would probably die instantaneously.
Slowly he realized a great form was rushing towards him. A dragon? Would reach they in time? It was right over him but it didn’t stop his fall.

"Do you want to risk a broken rib or let him smash on the rocks?" Pt’this asked him.
"But..." Annlonna started.
"Grabbed him!" Pt’this shouted at her mentally and aloud. Annlonna suddenly reached out and snatch Andy
Suddenly Andy felt the dragons claws wrapped around his chest. He wanted to protest but it was difficult to breathe and he was grateful he hadn’t smashed on the rocks below.
Annlonna held and the is gently as she could. She was sure she was holding him too hard but she wasn’t used to talons. She flew them back up the cliff. She set him down as gently as she could trying not to bruise him.
