Description
PoserFile Scene Toy (or simply
Scene Toy) is a slim and flexible utility that gives you quick
access to performing common operations on scene elements. It allows
you to ease the burden of setting up scenes with a significant amount
of conforming clothes and props and performs multiple operations at
lightning fast speeds, across multiple selections.
It can perform the following operations
on scene elements: Delete, Rename, Conform To,
Magnetize, Parent To, change Visibility, Frame
and Center (Poser 9+) and Select (a specific body part).
Delete, Conform To, Magnetize, Parent To and Visibility can be
applied to multiple selected items at once.
It has a native look and feel which can
be customized via your own color settings and a slim, compact design
that slides right into Poser's native interface.
It also has the benefit of allowing you
to perform these operations without having to search through huge
menus for the right body part.
This utility handles:
Figures (including clothing and
figure hair)
Props (including prop hair, smart
props and standalone props)
Grouping Objects (Poser 9+)
Lights (.lt2)
Cameras (.cm2)
Features:
Compact
and powerful "toy" for performing common operations in
the Poser scene, such as conforming, deleting, parenting and more,
based on a simple and elegant list.
Scene Toy can
be docked into the Poser interface or left as a floating window.
Supported by
Scripts
Auto Launch (FREE utility) if you wish to have it start when
Poser starts.
Supports
Figures, Props, Cameras and Lights. Prop support includes
standalone objects, smart props, hair props and grouping objects.
It does not support deformers of any kind (magnets, waves,
wind forces).
Items in
the list are further defined by descriptors in parenthesis after
each item. This gives you an overview of whether the item is
standalone (figure or prop is shown), is a parented figure
(parented), is conformed (conformed), a parented prop (smart prop)
and so on. These can be shown as abbreviated, one or two letter, or
obscured completely.
Initially the
list only shows Figures and Props but you can filter out any of
the 4 types via a quick "Filter" menu.
Several
operations can be performed when right-clicking an item in the list.
Most of these can be done on multiple selections at once. If an
item is included in the selections that is not appropriate for the
action, it will be skipped (for example, deleting multiple items
with GROUND selected - GROUND would be skipped).
Delete
- The item is removed from the scene. Works with multiple
selections. For example, you can delete 2 lights, a figure and 3
props all at once. Cameras and Poser's GROUND prop are not
affected.
Rename
- You can change the "friendly" name of any element in
the list. This option only appears when a single item is selected.
It does not affect Poser's GROUND prop.
Conform
To - This allows you to conform the selected items to another
figure. It only appears when one or more figures are selected
(clothing is included as a "figure"). It does not affect
items which are not figures.
Magnetize
- This allows you to magnetize any selected items, which have
previously been conformed, to the parent figure. It only appears
if one or more figures are selected and they have been conformed
and the parent figure has embedded deformers of some sort. This
generally applies to Generation 4 DAZ Figures and Figures such as
Miki 3.
Parent To
- Nearly any item can be parented to any other item. When
parenting to a figure, a sub-menu is provided that allows you to
pick the body part parented to. Items can be parented TO Poser's
GROUND object. However the GROUND object cannot be parented to
other items.
Visibility
- Any element can be made temporarily hidden or shown in the scene.
Works with multiple selections. As a bonus, Lights are not only
hidden but turned off.
Frame and
Center - Only shown in Poser 9 and higher, this is a play on
Poser's "Frame Select" feature. Not only does it frame
an item but it centers the orbit so you come up with frontal view
and no weird orbited angles. This option only appears when a
single item is selected. It "can" be used on Cameras and
Lights but may produce odd results. If used on a figure, you are
able to select a specific body part from a sub-menu.
Select
- Since Scene Toy selects a figure's BODY by default, this option
allows you to quickly select a specific body part. It only appears
when a single figure is selected.
More on
manipulating list items:
The scene
is updated immediately when an operation is performed.
The list
is updated immediately when an item is removed from the scene,
renamed, added to the scene or its status changes -
conformed/parented or not. In situations where this does not
happen, there is also a Refresh menu selection.
A shortened
body part list is shown for figures with one or more standard
body parts (by design). This applies to Parent To, Frame and
Center, and Select targets. However, at any time you can select a
single figure and designate that it always show all body parts.
This feature can be toggled on and off and is saved for future
sessions. It is "keyed" to each figure's .obj file.
When using
Magnetize, it is possible to get a "false positive" if
the parent figure has embedded deformers which are not intended to
be extended to clothes. Cookie is an example of this. If you have
selected a single figure that has embedded deformers, the script
can set it to be ignored at any time. The first time you run the
script, Cookie, Chip, Peaches and Pickles are placed on the default
list of figures to ignore. This feature can be toggled on and off
and is saved for future sessions. It is "keyed" to each
figure's .obj file.
The
operations are NOT processed by Poser's undo system. The
drawback, for example, is that a deleted item is gone until you
load it again into the scene.
Lightning Fast - Most operations are performed in seconds. Magnetizing
conformed clothing takes a wee bit longer depending on the number
of items selected and the number of deformers embedded into the
figure (V4 has many). Footnote – this the one of the benefits
of not using the undo system.
The
confirmation dialog when deleting items can be turned off.
Status of
the last operation is displayed in the Title of Scene Toy as you
perform them.
Any single
item can be right-clicked to show you useful information:
The type of
item.
Whether it
is conformed or parented to something else.
Name of it's
geometry file or if it is embedded.
Its number
of "true" Material Zones.
A list of
those Materials.
Number of
object groups or body parts (if a figure)
Polygon and
Vertice count.
Nearly
every part of the script can be defined with user colors. Hate
yellow? Change it. Tired of grey? Go pink!
Scene Toy
can be set to a certain list height or set up to size dynamically,
filling all available space when docked. Changing the list size
requires the script to be reloaded.
It
Supports Plugins as official or 3rd party Scene Toy
Add-Ons. For programmers, selected items along with Scene Toy's
current select list are dynamically exported and can be easily read
by a script. Scripted add-ons can be in either .py or .pyc format.
