Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (English: The Phantom of the Opera) is
a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a
serialisation in "Le Gaulois" from September 23, 1909 to January 8,
1910. Initially, the story sold very poorly upon publication in book form and
was even out of print several times during the twentieth century. A testament
to any great work of art is its pervasiveness in popular culture, and one of
the greatest examples of such testaments are to Phantom of the Opera (1925).
The story begins in the Paris Opera House, a location built
on catacombs, ancient labyrinths, and torture chambers. The property is sold
and the new owners are warned of an alleged phantom, which is in infatuated
with an unknown singer named Christine Daae. Erik, the phantom, blackmails the
famous diva Carlotta through a series of letters ordering her to relinquish her
role to Christine. When she does, Christine offers a startling performance, and
Erik pledges his love and fidelity to her and in doing so the Phantom became immortal through music and film!
Phantom 1925 is inspired by the makeup used by Lon Chaney
Snr in the 1925 original movie, a figure of intrigue, horror, love and pity.

Phantom - 1925 comprises of a set of custom head and body morphs based loosely on the 'Phantom of the Opera' character as portrayed by Lon Chaney Snr. in the 1925 silent movie of the same name. The movie was predominanly black and white and main texture of the pack reflects this by being largely monochrome. A full colour texture has been included to reflect the inclusion of some very early colour footage in the 1925 film.
This character is not meant to be an exact representation of the Lon Chaney character but rather to capture the essence of the 1925 character.
