Barun: The Old Warrior. His days of leading the pack are nearing a close, but his wisdom and skills are not gone. A teacher's soul rests in this ancient wolf as he holds together his people with love and wisdom, awaiting a time when a new leader can take his place, but some of the candidates have a great deal of growing up to do.

Soto: The Enforcer. Long the third of the pack hierarchy, his hungry eyes on leadership, he seeks to prove his worth through brute force and bravery, but he has not the patience for the weaker members of the pack. Barun is tired and old, perhaps he will step aside rather than face the next challenge, and Soto intends to be ready for that chance.

Hailey: The Silent One. Barun's young daughter, she is as sleek and fleet as the moon whose color she shares. A silent ghost that passes through the woods. She may not have inherited her father's strength, but she bares his wisdom proudly. To her father's sadness, she holds no desire to lead, but in a time of change will she find the strength to step forward if her people need her?
